NAVITEL has released a major firmware update, version 2.6.8, for its flagship dashcams – NAVITEL RS990 GPS, RS985 GPS, and RS984 GPS. The new firmware brings a host of enhancements and fixes that significantly improve device functionality and reliability.
What's New in NAVITEL RS990 GPS
The new feature in firmware version 2.6.8 is the addition of voice control, which allows drivers to control key dashcam functions using simple voice commands – a safer and more convenient alternative while driving. A complete list of available commands and the user manual are available on the NAVITEL website.
Important: For previously sold RS990 GPS devices, this feature is available free of charge. To activate it, contact NAVITEL technical support.
Other improvements include:
- Advanced HDR settings with "Off," "On," or "HDR only at night" options, allowing for optimal video quality in various lighting conditions.
- Support for 60 frames per second recording in both 2K and Full HD resolutions, resulting in smoother and more detailed video.
- Updated database of cameras and alerts, helping the driver stay informed and react promptly to road restrictions.
- New USB port mode selection: when connected to a computer or car, users can now choose between data transfer mode (Mass Storage) or charge-only mode.
- Various bug fixes, for example:
- Fixed "Daylight Saving Time" setting function
- Fixed "Motion Detection" mode functionality
- Resolved incorrect activation of "Turn off screen after 1 minute" option
- Fixed muting of assistant alert sounds when button sounds are deactivated
- Fixed translation errors in Polish, Czech, Slovak, and other language menus
- Resolved file saving errors in certain scenarios
- Improved "Memory Card Test" functionality — test results are now saved to the memory card
- Other minor fixes to enhance overall stability and performance.
